rides after evening church services were common occurrences.

Spring has arrived and it is time to begin
breaking the paint horse colts that have spent the Winter with
their mothers. The horses are gathered and penned where they
begin several months of training. Some will compete in shows,
some will make ropers and others will remain on the ranch as
brood mares. No matter what their future holds in store, it is
always a delight to work with the ROCKY CREEK COLTS.

The glow from the lights of this old church in
Mason, Texas has assembled families and friends from near and
far. Drawn together by a common bond, their fellowship is more
important than the discomforts of this cold December evening.
Children often played together after services. Even in the
dead of Winter, fun times awaited as evidenced by the snowman
they hurry to finish before heading for the warmth of home on

San Carlos Borremeo de
Carmelo, otherwise know today as the Carmel Mission, was
founded by Fr. Serra in 1770. Its appealing mix of history,
architecture and setting make its location in the Carmel River
Valley one of the most frequented sites in California. From
His headquarters here, Serra managed the growing mission chain
which numbered nine units and supervised the baptism of 5.307
Indians before his death. An elegant fountain, olive trees and
attractive gardens enhance the site where visitors tied their
horses and entered the mission. The reflection of the setting
sun upon the church silhouettes the Padre in the arched
entrance as he makes his way back to his modest room carrying
a bouquet from THE
PADRE'S GARDEN.
