About Larry Blacketer

Larry Blacketer began training as an artist during his preschool years while living in one of several servants houses on a farm near Corpus Christi,Texas. As luck would have it, another of the houses on that farm was home to an art teacher at the little country school near there. She soon became acquainted with Larry and quickly noticed that he might have some artistic talent that she could develop.

As result of her interest, many memorable evenings were spent with Larry in her home receiving one-on-one training and tutoring from that wonderfully talented and patient young teacher.  Elementary lessons learned at her side would follow him throughout his life as an artist.

Following that seemingly impromptu beginning, Larry took various art related classes during his school years and finally majored in Architecture during his college years.

His lengthy career has included positions as commercial artist, cartographer, draftsman, graphic designer, and for the last 20 plus years, owner of an art gallery in the Dallas area and finally in Rockwall, Texas. All along, he managed to devote time to his love for oil painting, selling his originals on a somewhat limited basis at his gallery. Several of his pieces were commissioned by American Airlines, to be hung in their executive offices.

Now Larry has decided to publish hand enhanced giclees of several of his favorite pieces in limited editions to be sold both in his gallery and by way of the internet. This latest venture will be launched late November, 2005 with the first piece being Weekend Visitors, a 24" x 36" signed and numbered reproduction of his original.
